MAGO GAIA

A mythic figure appears in contemporary Seoul. Wearing a branch-like headdress and carrying a drum, the body moves through alleys and across rooftops, sensing the city through sound and ritual gesture.

MAGO GAIA does not reenact mythology. It places a mythic body within an everyday urban landscape, where inherited cosmologies meet the rhythms of contemporary life. The work follows the shifting relations between body, place, and sound without resolving them into a single story.

Created in 2020, MAGO GAIA is an early moving-image work in the artistic lineage that later developed into Soojin Pray’s ritual-media practice.
