HEALING TIDE

Healing Tide is a site-responsive ritual performance cycle that constructs temporary fields of collective attention through sound, movement, breath, and place.

The 2025 iteration took place at Jaguri Park in Seogwipo, Jeju, at dusk. Audiences reclined across an open coastal field while live sound, movement, guided attention, wind, and the ambient rhythm of the sea circulated through the site. Rather than positioning the audience outside the work, the performance placed them within its shifting spatial and sonic field.

Conceived and directed by Soojin Pray, the Jeju iteration brought together five locally based collaborators: Kangryun Kim, Noah, Jisoo Heo, Jung-hyun Baek, and Maharjan Ritesh. Their practices introduced distinct layers of voice, singing bowls, percussion, sitar, sound, and contemplative performance.

In Healing Tide, sound does not function as accompaniment. It becomes a spatial and relational medium through which bodies, environment, performers, and audience temporarily reorganise their distance and attention. Each iteration is reconstructed in response to its location, collaborators, environmental conditions, and public context.

In 2026, Evening Fold: A Sea of Healing into the Forest extended Healing Tide into a sixteen-part cycle in an urban forest through Eunpyeong Culture Foundation, Seoul.
